Make Your Long-Haul Trip Easier: Driver Guide

As you travel across the country working with Classic Transport, the views are magnificent, and you’ll make memories. While the experience can be meaningful, there are certain elements that you should understand to make the travel experience better. Experienced drivers understand how to enjoy the slower moments so they can enjoy more of the trip. This driver guide will make your long-haul trip easier.

There are some key devices you can use to make the trip more comfortable and avoid problems as you travel across the country.

Important Tech Devices for the Trip

Today’s drivers choose electronic equipment to help them on their long-haul journeys. These devices make travel more manageable while providing additional safety. Our driver guide recommends the following devices.

  • GPS – Global Positioning System

While truckers have always relied on maps, CB radios, and even their instincts to find their destination, GPS makes navigation easy. GPS operates in real-time and is very precise. A GPS system will direct you to the destination without fail, even alerting you to upcoming traffic jams, construction, and other potential route changes. Used correctly, the GPS will relieve any stress along the way and likely even save some time.

  • Dashcam

Proven to be a beneficial tool, a dashcam is one of the best tech devices for long-haul drivers. This device records all that happens in front and behind your vehicle. If something unforeseen should pop up, you now have a video record of the situation. In many instances, these devices can absolve you of the blame for any wrongdoing in an accident.

  • Cell Phone Signal Booster

A cell phone signal booster amplifies periodic weak signals that can prevent communication. Having phone service is essential, especially in a breakdown or other trip interruption. As an added bonus, having a constant signal allows you to stream podcasts throughout the long-haul drive.

  • Bluetooth Radio

Bluetooth allows you to stream music or other radio broadcasts continuously. This convenient feature helps to break the boredom without needing to find local radio stations as you drive across the country.

Dress Right and Stay Comfortable

  • Sun and Winter Wear

You will likely be visiting places with different climates. Have a bag packed for all situations that includes sunglasses, sunscreen, ball cap, winter hat, gloves, blanket, and a change of clothes.

  • Insulated Work Boots

When driving through various climates and situations, your feet must stay comfortable. Invest in high-quality, insulated work boots to keep your feet comfortable. This footwear will also be protective if you need to load and unload inventory.

  • Work Gloves

Handy at any time, high-quality work gloves will protect your hands during various phases of the journey.

Necessary Safety Equipment

Our driver guide includes safety. Classic Transport requires drivers to carry a fire extinguisher, flares, at least three triangles, a tire gauge, spare fuses, small hand tools, padlock, and items necessary for tire changes.

Emergencies can occur at any time. Make sure you are always prepared with all the equipment. Have a kit with a reflective safety vest, tools, a first aid kit, a flashlight, extra batteries, and a CB to contact others in an emergency.
